when they were putting up statue of liberty, lincoln memorial
planners were conscious of the presence of
antiquity's statuary standing still
this is all new for everyone every day
waving into a mirror
like it's a camera

and i'm not the only one alone in this room

i wrote the following so far ago there
though it still arose with this morning's dawn
like a bike
locked, abandoned outside
slowly losing its parts like a tree's leaves:
'if only the ink would swell to the size of
the mountains behind closed eyes', or,
'if the words do get repeated enough would they even
cast a shadow'

every word a farewell [and so on and so forth]
